Drinking Too Much Caffeine Cause Two Eye Diseases

To be able to dispel the drowsiness that the eyes remain literate, coffee and other caffeinated beverages, usually often used as a magic potion. However, should we have to limit caffeine, drinking too much caffeine, can harm the eyes.

 

Caffeine is a stimulant that affects the central nervous system. For people who are not strong, caffeine can cause changes in heart rate, anxiety, and abdominal pain.

1. Glaucoma (increased eye pressure and can causes the blind)
According to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, the caffeine in a short time, can cause increased intraocular pressure in the eye. Increased pressure can survive up to three hours before finally returning to normal.

People usually will not see a change in eye pressure, because fluctuations usually do not cause outward symptoms.

It is not too dangerous if you consume caffeine within normal limits or only occasionally. But when you enter large amounts of caffeine to the body, it can cause glaucoma, the vision impairment is usually caused by increased eye pressure.

If not treated immediately and you continue to consume caffeine, glaucoma can be harmful to eyesight, causing blindness.

2. Petals Eye Seizures
Consumption of caffeine can also cause eyelid twitching. This condition usually does not indicate a serious eye condition, but it is only possible because of the stimulant effects of caffeine.

Eyelid twitching, often causing periodic muscle spasms in the upper or lower eyelid. This twitch can cause frustration and people could feel the contractions.

Twitch is not a permanent effect on the eye or eyesight. Once you reduce your intake of caffeine and stimulant effects, the eyelid will return to normal function.
